Michael Marks (b. 1978) received his BA from Georgia College and State University and MFA from Clemson University. He was a co-founder and exhibitions director of the ThreeCitiesGroup, an artist collective active for nearly a decade across the Southeast. Working across a range of materials and techniques, his creative work has been shown nationally and internationally in over seventy five exhibitions. He has received several awards and distinctions; including a grant from Vasari Paints, NY; fellowship from Wildacres Foundation, NC; and honors from the SC Art Commission. His writings on contemporary art and education have been published by Temporary Art Review and the Paris College of Art Press. He serves on the board of FATE (Foundations in Art: Theory and Education) as editor of FATE In Review, an academic journal focused on foundations education and visual culture. He has held academic appointments at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and the University of South Carolina Upstate. Currently, Marks is an Associate Professor of Art and Foundations Program Coordinator at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University.
